Picture #2
For our second image, we didnt have an actual picture to copy. So we decided to create a beach scene with a sunset in the background for our image. One of the main emotions we wanted to convey in my opinion was relaxation and a sense of escape. When talking about the criteria of color, the color blue is a very calming color and often associated with being calm or relaxed. Also, it can be associated with water very easily. When talking about shape, the shape of the waves is very recognizable to everyone. when seeing the curves of waves, it isnt very harsh on the eyes, which also adds to the sense of calm and relxation. we tried to keep the shapes fairly simple as to not add confusion or chaos to the image. the chaos would have had the opposite effect that we were trying to convey. we kept the sand as a straight line. and cut the sunset as a half circle and used red triangles around the sun. we debated whether or not to put the triangles on the image because in a lot of cases triangles can be perceived as harsh and not inviting or pleasing to the eye. but when you think about it, sometimes the suns rays are harsh, and thats part of the whole idea of a beach scene. people go to the beach to be in the sun. so taken in context, the triangles are not harsh and add to the general message we were trying to convey.
Picture #1
Well for this picture, our group made a cut out of a heart that was broken down the middle. The message of our picture is straight forward and doesn't really offer many other references to any other emotions. In terms of color, the red against a solid background gives us a feeling to anger or love. Red symbolizes passion and ferocity, so the red gives feeling to tragedy or on the contrary excitement. But in terms of shape, the heart symbolizes love, and the crack in the middle symbolizes loss or detestation. The sharp edges used for the crack refer to intensity or quite seriousness. So all in all our picture clearly states a loss of love or broken heart.
Picture #1
This picture that our group created has many effects working to show a certain emotion. First of the composition is the main effect of the image. The broken heart at the center of the image pulls the viewer to it. It makes sure that the viewer sees the center as the most important part of the image. The next biggest effect is simply the color red. This color is extremely powerful and pulls attention towards it. Secondly, red represents actual emotions such as love and anger. The broken heart in the center obviously symbolizes love that has gone astray. It shows a negative side of love and portrays different emotions such as sadness and animosity. The shape has a lot to do with this image as well. The most obvious part is the heart itself. First of all the image symbolizes love and the soft rounded edges represent coolness and calmness. But when the heart is broken, the jagged edges come out and sharpness is shown. These edges pull out emotions that are actually cutting, knifelike, and stinging. These are all real emotions that come along with a broken heart I would assume. Cutting, stinging, and knifelike pain. Hurtful and jagged. Heartbreak is rough and that is what this image is trying to represent. This image has many working criteria that really pull emotions from the viewer.
